Whatnot fees: common questions

How much does Whatnot take from sellers in 2026?

In the US, Canada and Australia, 8% commission on the final sale price plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total the buyer pays. Coins & Money and wholesale pallets are 4%. In the UK and EU it's 6.67% + VAT and 2.42% + £/€0.25 + VAT. In Japan it's 8% + JCT and 2.9% + ¥50 + JCT. On a typical $50 US sale with $5 shipping, fees come to about 12% of the sale price.

Does Whatnot charge commission on shipping?

No. Commission is on the sale price only. The processing fee is on the full order total, so the shipping and tax the buyer pays raise it a little.

What is the $1,500 high-value rule?

Since January 14, 2026, eligible categories pay 0% commission on the part of a sale above 1,500. A $2,000 trading card sale in the US pays $120 commission, not $160. Processing still applies to the full $2,000. Sports breaks and surprise products are excluded.

Do giveaways have fees?

No. The buyer pays nothing, so there are no seller fees. You pay the shipping. Add giveaways under Show costs to see what they cost your show.

Do coupons change my fees?

Your own coupons lower the sale price, and fees are charged on the discounted amount. Whatnot-issued coupons, like the first-time buyer coupon, don't affect your earnings.

Does Whatnot charge tax on its fees?

In some places: several US states, Canada on sales to foreign buyers, unregistered sellers in the UK, EU and Australia, all Irish sellers, and Japan. Pick your location in the settings and the calculator adds it.
